Launched in 2014, the roughly 500-million HUF project to convert Sándortelepi Public Beach into a sandy beach is still in progress, but once it’s finished, the almost 3.5-hectare beach giant will have a sandy section about 200 metres long, beating Balatonlelle’s Napfény Beach. Even though the construction won’t be wrapped up until the 2016 season, the developments so far look promising: the massive, sandy football field, the various toys (slides, castles, playground with water and pirate ship), the sunbathing deck and islands, and the sandy bays and peninsulas. By comparison, the grass is in a horrible state, the bathrooms are hard to find, there is not enough shade, the half-finished buildings look understandably disheartening and the gastro selection is lacking in certain departments. Regardless of all of that, we cannot wait until the Sándortelep Riviera is finally finished.
