The baroque Festetics-kastély in Keszthely is one of the biggest palaces in Hungary. Hungarian history has been cruel to dazzling palaces, but fortunately Festetics-kastély survived the storm: even the hedonist Soviet troops drinking Bordeaux-wine in the cellar couldn't do serious harm to the building.. Helikon Kastélymúzeum awaits the guests with a secret door in the library, giant paintings of noble men, antique furniture and other treasures. You can try the best Hungarian wines in Balatoni Borok Háza if you're not taken with the razzle-dazzle. You can spend some time outdoors as well, because the sights in the palace's garden are developing day by day. There is a hunting exhibition, a carriage museum, a huge automatic model train layout and a palm house full of rare plants. If you prefer to just lie down and chill out for a while, the palace's garden is open to everyone.
