Before you start climbing the rather steep Exiles Stairs leading to the top of Badacsony, you should know that the lookout tower is no longer there, but the view is still quite stunning, so it’s definitely worth the trek. From the hilltop lookout spot you can see the neighboring cellars by Szent György Hill’s basalt organs, the ruins of Szigliget Castle, and the monadnocks of Badacsony – in clear weather the ranges of the Keszthely Hills are also perfectly visible in the distance.
Here’s a top tip: If you’re interested in seeing special design solutions, you should visit nearby Kisfaludy Observation Tower, which has been rebuilt based on the original plans of the old tower that used to stand there.
