Located directly next to the church, at the foot of Szigliget’s castle, Várkávézó (Castle Café) aims to promote classic, natural flavours. Many think their delectable icy treats are worth taking a detour for. They don’t overcomplicate their ice creams, which are made with fresh fruit (two kilograms for four kilograms of fruit ice cream), real cream and vegetable fat. Their fresh, gluten-free ice creams are also free of preservatives and colourings, and they hold in the fridge for three days. The pistachio and hazelnut flavours are good indicators of the overall quality, even for the strictest ice cream critics: ingredients for the former come from Sicily, and for the latter from Piemont.
