This gourmet restaurant is the diamond on the crown of Chateau Visz, a palace hotel near Balatonlelle. These fancy fine dining restaurants are quite rare even in Budapest and now we're talking about a place which is literally in the middle of the forest, with the closest lángos stand kilometers away on the south coast of the Balaton. Honestly, there's no need for an escape plan to the next lángos stand though. This restaurant was created by Michelin star winner chef Erik Schröter. Chateau Visz Gourmet won "The Restaurant of the Year" award in 2010 and Gault Millau awarded it with a toque. The restaurant offers a fine dining menu based on local dishes and prepared from local ingredients. In other words, it serves redefined Hungarian dishes, so prepare to see and enjoy specialities like goulash in another context. The menu is different every day and the ingredients are grown in the chateau's own kitchen garden. You can ask for a wine menu as well, which completes the gastronomic journey with wines matching the individual courses. The wines arrive partly from the wine cellars of the Balaton region. If you have no clue about fine dining, no worries: Norbert, the head waiter is an expert in basically everything in the world, and he gladly answers any question.
