For a long time, Balatonfenyves was mostly known for its campgrounds for students, but now it has something that not many other Balaton-settlements have. The two piers of the Balatonfenyves Yacht Club can be seen even from space; walking along these piers that stretch into Lake Balaton for about 500 meters is an experience we could only describe with the kitschiest of words.
With a view on Rigó Channel, the complex on the Balaton shore has a hotelwith 18 rooms besides the marina that has place for 300 boats; motifs of sailing can be spotted in all the bright rooms of the hotel – one of our biggest favorites is a colorful, enlarged aerial photograph of the Kékszalag sailing competition, which makes us feel like we’re floating in the club-room.
The restaurant that was awarded with a design prize is located inPerlaki House, a listed monument building; its concept was created by well-known chef and gourmet consultant Viktor Segal and executive chef Gergely Orosz. But besides the design restaurant, the Angus burger and the Rosé duck breast both deserve an award.
