The last Advent weekend at Lake Balaton. Pop stars shine on top of the tree, Bach helps you relax, Rome comes to Siófok, and snowboarders go to the Bakony. Weekend Programme Guide.

Kiscsillag, Irie Maffia, Veszprém

The Hungarian pop stars continue to haunt the Expresszó in Veszprém this weekend as well. The stage welcomes Kiscsillag on Friday, and Irie Maffia on Saturday. And the selection of the top of the pops is far from over for the year: Quimby, Ivan & The Parazol and the Carbonfools are yet to rock the Veszprém club before the arrival of 2014.

Christmas classics, Veszprém

Also in Veszprém, also a concert-- but with violins instead of electric guitars and a mixed choir instead of throaty rock singers. The Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra and the Mixed Choir of Veszprém hold their traditional Christmas concert in Hangvilla on Saturday and Sunday. Sit back, enjoy Bach and forget the half-done Christmas cleaning!

Hiking, Balatonszemes-Balatonföldvár

There is an opportunity to go or a walk on the south shore o Balaton on Sunday, 22 December. The Szent Kristóf Természetjáró Egyesület guides you from Balatonszemes to Balatonföldvár. The distance is 19 kilometres, and you can join the fun at the Balatonszemes train station on Sunday morning. True, Bakony is a bit futher from Balaton,  but if you visit the SkiAréna in Eplény, near Veszprémyou join the celebration of World Snowboard Day, also on 22 December.

Roman holiday, Siófok

Fans of Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, and the Hungarian HBO-series Társas játék might be especially excited to see the theatrical version of the legendary movie in Siófok. The young cast including Rémusz Szikszai and Judit Cseh among others performs the piece in the Kálmán Imre Culture Centre on Sunday. If you happen to be in Siófok but have the bad luck of missing the Roman Holiday, go to Youtube and watch the  movie Elnökkisasszony (1935). This is the Hungarian version off Roman Holiday, which is set in Siófok and features Lili Muráti and Pál Jávor instead of Hepburn and Peck, while the Vespa is replaced by a hydroplane and a sailboat.

Pre-christmas party, Balatonfüred

There will be a Pre-Christmas Party at the popular venue of Balatonfüred's cultural life, Kredenc Wine Bistro. Music will be provided by the Sforzato Wind Quartet and the Csopak Demizson jazz minimalThe manager of Kredenc, András Dobai has some good advice to share via We Love Balaton with those visiting the neighbourhood of Balatonfüred between Christmas and New Year's Eve, so be sure to check back soon!
