The 10 year-old Punnany Massif has billion ties to Balaton and to the 7th MasterCard Balaton Sound as well. They''ll make their 4th appearance in Zamárdi, and they will boost their hit songs with electronic tunes. As every true hip-hop head, they are eager to see Nas and Wu-Tang Clan. Interview.

What does Balaton mean for Punnany Massif?

Balaton was the perfect summer playground for the teenage years: everything about friends, parties and girls happened here. It was the same for most of the Hungarian teenagers in the 90's. Nowadays it gives a great chill if we can stop for a few hours somewhere near the shore between two gigs. Of course, there is Balaton Sound Festival too, which has become a well-known factor.

What was the best pick-up line you've ever heard on the beach?

"I'm sorry, I don't live here. Would you mind if I walked you home, because I don't want to get lost."

You have already been to the festival as artists. Did you visit Balaton Sound when you were not in the line-up?

Our history with the festival started three years ago when we were invited for the first time. Basically we are shy, modest guys whose appearance lacks the V-neck T-shirts and the bling-bling jewellery, so we needed the artist-pass to get along well with the crowd.

What are your favourite memories about the summers of Balaton Sound?

Good old Lemmy from Motörhead was right: we have unforgettable memories, it's a pity we forgot all of them. No, really, it was a thrill to share the stage with icons like Snoop Dog in 2011. It's a huge honour and inspiration at the same time.

This year Nas and the Wu-Tang Clan will hit the festival's main stage. What do you think about them? Why are they important to hip-hop fans?

They are big names, there is no doubt. They both had a huge impact on hip hop music's golden era in the 90's. We are curious about their shows to see what can they bring to the stage in 2013; we'll be there for sure. In our opinion it will be a huge fiesta with thousands of guys bobbing their heads in unison.

Besides the earlier mentioned headliners which are the most interesting artists for you this year?

Henrik Schwartz's music is always there on our playlists, because we are huge fans of his eclectic style. Calvin Harris is a bit too popular, but his show is always modern and interesting. We'll drop by Todd Terje’s gig as well. We wouldn't miss Ganxsta Zolee és a Kartel for the world either!

What are your advices to the first-timers of Balaton Sound Festival?

You only need two things: be cool and have fun! This is one giant party and everyone is there to enjoy the festival. If you keep your eyes and ears open you'll meet new people, see new things, listen to new music. And it could be a blast! We're not very fond of techno music, but a couple of years ago we found ourselves at a Sven Väth party while the sun was coming up. It was awesome, really.

You threw a huge house party with numerous guest stars at VOLT Festival to celebrate Punnany's 10th birthday and you had a concert on the last day as well. Will your show in Zamárdi be any different than the earlier at VOLT?

We invited our friends to celebrate this 10-year anniversary to Sopron, but we are planning something special for Balaton Sound Festival. We want to adapt our music to the festival's musical taste, so we would like to enhance the electronic sound in our songs. We don't want to spoil the surprises though, so let's leave everything else to the concert!

Pécs lacks lakes, so will you spend some time on Zamárdi's beach?

Let's not forget about the sea of Pécs, because we have a lake at Orfű! We wouldn't miss it for the world; the video of one of our songs (Élvezd) also shows that having fun on the beach is definitely our thing.
