Hiking and listening to psychedelic music, cooking lavender jam, riding a bike on the hills. Program guide for those who didn't hide  the keys to their summer home until spring.

Grape harvest festival in Balatonfüred

The grape harvest for the modern winery is simpler than using the microwave oven. This doesn't mean there is no need for harvest festivals though. Balatonfüred hosts a huge harvest festival on Friday and Saturday. The harvest march brings you wine makers, folk dancers, carriages and majorettes. The point is that you get to taste the products of local wine makers.

Bakony jazz festival in Bakonybél

It is worth going a bit further away from Lake Balaton, to Bakonybél. Many hikers are fans of Bakonybél, so an excursion is always a good program for autumn. Be careful: there are a few guys who like to spend their time in the woods acting like they are Indians. We're not sure if they'll offer strangers the calumet right away.

Bakony Jazz offers more than the usual jazz music on 14th September: you will find folk, psychedelic rock and other genres there, too. Wine tasting, chimney cake and ponies will be part of the program. Yes, ponies, so you can bring your kids along as well.

Lavender jam cooking day in Tihany

Lavender is more than just a soap ingredient, or the source of the good smell in your wardrobe. Lavender is also used for making syrup and oil, while they will cook jam from it in Tihany this weekend. Régi Idők Ízei lavender jam cooking day awaits those who want to leave the traditional peach-strawberry-red ribes triangle behind to cook something special.
Experienced chefs will guide you through the process in Régi Idők Udvara Skanzen és Étterem. There will also be folk dance and a recipe competition, too. And even more lavender.

Hit the waves with the fastest ships

The brand new fastest ship of Balaton is called Hunor, and it was unveiled this week. As you can see on our cover photo, Hunor is already on the move. It allows you to travel faster than the earlier options, and it looks exactly like as a cool speed boat. It will be available for travel (together with his brother, Magor) between Siófok, Balatonfüred and Tihany until 6th October.

Be the king of the hills bicycle race in Keszthely - Szent György-hegy

After the start at Libás beach in Keszthely the participants will cycle to Szent György-hegy through Balatongyörök. Taking a break at Tarányi pince sounds like a good idea, then everyone will head back to Balatongyörök. You need a good bike and a fit body, because the tour is 65 kilometers.
We have already mentioned that one of the coolest things is to cycle on the downhills of Szent György-hegy from Tapolca to Vonyarcvashegy. The organized autumn version of this trip will be held on Sunday, 15th September.István Széchenyi Memorial Regatta between Balatonfüred and Tihany Staring at the water could still be an option if the lavender cooking and the majorette's march are not your cup of tea. The Széchenyi István-emlékverseny, one of the most important sailing regattas of Balaton will be held around Tihanyi-félsziget on 14th September.
The regatta starts from Balatonfüred on Saturday morning, and it lasts until evening. Another regatta is going on in the meantime: Finn Masters Európa Kupa. It is also held around Tihanyi-félsziget from 11th September until Sunday.
