Get high with Bëlga in Veszprém, go sentimental with Zorán in Siófok, laugh at Tamás Jordán in Balatonfüred, drink and eat with local winemakers in Badacsony, and join the surfers on a bike tour in Balatonföldvár. Weekend Programme Guide.

More hiking

The Keszthelyi-hegység has everything that makes hiking worthwhile. Routes of moderate difficulty, caves, castle ruins, lookout towers, and plants to pick. And a whole lotta guided hikes. TheForrásvíz Természetbarát Egyesület of Gyenesdiás offers you a hike for each day of the weekend. Meet-ups (2 PM): at the Nagymező (in Gyenesdiás) on Saturday; at the Elementary School of Zalaapáti on Sunday.

If you are mad for ramson, you will not want to miss the Saturday ramson tour near Balatonederics. The freshly picked, fine-chopped leaves are perfect to season an omelette or a warm toast. Check out our very own guide to picking ramson here. You can also pick herbs, assissted by a professional in the frame of a herb tour setting out from Rezi on Tuesday and Wednesday.
If you'd rather bike, join a tour of the Somogy-hills organized by the Viharsarok Sailing Centre of Balatonföldvár. Bring your own bike, or contact the Centre to borrow one for free. The planned route also allows for getting a taste of the wines of Kötcse, enjoying the view from the highest point of Somogy County, and a rest after the climb up to the ruins of the Kereki Castle, before cycling back to Balatonföldvár. Participation is free and open in front of anyone who can complete the 30-35 kms.

More wine dinners

There will be two wine dinners simultaneously in Badacsony on Friday. The Badacsony Circle and the VSOP Balaton-felvidék invites everyone to their Badacsony Wine Weekend in Hotel Bonvino. The programme starts on Friday, at 7 PM, with a wine dinner accompanied by the best wines of the eight participating wineries. Saturday will be spent with a wine tour that includes the tasting of novelties. There will be a wine quiz and a test drive, and you can buy the wines you fell in love during the weekend for a discount price at the wineries.
The Borbarátok Borház that stands in the Badacsony hillside, only a few minutes from the centre of Badacsonytomaj, serves a spring menu with Badacsony wines on Saturday, in the evening. The smoked goose breast rilette, the dill-sour cream rooster soup with cheese lumps, and the iron plate-cooked mangalitza tenderloin with ransom duck liver stew on rosemary steak potato will be followed by Belgian chocolate mousse with ginger orange jelly. The stars of the evening will be the classical wines of Badacsony, and the Badacsonyi Ürmös, which was prepared on the basis of Róza Szegedy's recipe and which is exclusive to this place. The farewell drink of the night is an oak-aged Pinot gris pomace pálinka. The price of the wine dinner is 8500 HUF.

More culture

Zorán and his chamber orchestra are the closing act of this year's Siófok Spring Festival. The musician, who has been active for around 50 years, will perform his evergreen hits at the Kálmán Imre Culture Centre. In the Expresszó of Veszprém, in the very same moments, Intim Torna Illegálwill perform their own hits as well. On the very same stage in Expresszó, the following night, Bëlgával will shout out its underground lyrics to the audience.
You can listen to the popular song, 'If I were a rich man' and the rest of the Fiddler on The Roof musical in Hangvilla (Veszprém) on riday and Saturday. The singers will be acocmpanied by none other than the Budapest Klezmer Band.
In Balatonfüred, the Anna Grand Hotel delivers yet again your weekend piece of culture. The Exklusive Theatre Nights series revives the Hungarian comedian, Alfonzó on Saturday. At 5 PM on Sunday, also in Anna Grand Hotel, the popular actor Tamás Jordán delivers a poetry-standup comedy mix to you. Afterwards, stroll over to Kredenc Wine Bistro on the other side of the street, to celebrate 4 years of wine-drinking, acid jazz parties and dancing on the street.
