Tagyon Birtok is a multidimensional phenomenon, categorized as a Company of Friends by the founders. well-played: this label allows for the weaving of newer and newer threads into their history of wine making, hospitality and active Balaton-based recreation. We sampled Nivegy-völgy flavours picked by the hosts of Tagyon Birtok, and tested sailing on the Lake with them at the wheel.

Farm party 2.0

It takes a great amount of attraction to Lake Balaton for a Budapest-based entrepreneur to purchase an entire estate at the Balaton Uplands. Attila Kartaly had been blessed with that attraction, which transformed into the feeling of attachment-filled love following the first, modest wine drinking with friends on his new land.

The line of hospitality comes from another great love, which found him at one of the popular wine bars in Budapest. This gave birth to a new chapter in the story of the estate, complete with the person of Zsuzsa Veres and her expertise in wine. It turned out that creativity - at least in terms of the relationship with Zsuzsa and Tagyon - is female. Attila wasn't hard to convince that the natural endowments of the land should be utilized in a professional manner.

Today, they offer numerous recreational opportunities, not to mention the various combinations their programs offer. They organize thematic days and festivals as well, to blend celebrations with nature, wine and the flavours of the Nivegy-völgy. The regularly scheduled events include a marathon bike ride in the Káli-medence and a sailing picnic day, while the current one-off event you can register for is the 20 August red-letter sailing day.

No stress

Tagyon Birtok is like a fairy-tale with positive energies, fertile lands, red tomatoes and crooked spaces. In order to be part of the tale, we participated in the Sailing day chapter. After a warm-up at the estate with red onion omelette. vegetables from the garden, homemade bread, fruit-filled jam, fruit tea and a bit of caffeine, we rode the minivan to the marina of Balatonfüred.

As it turned out, the sailboat could comfortably hold 6 persons, was easy to launch and wore a female name. This basic principle was pinpointed by Zoltán Bakóczy, the man responsible for the joviality on board and the programmes of Tagyon Birtok. Apropos joviality! The sailing trip culminated to perfection with a mid-lake picnic, wines worthy of the spirit of the estate, benignant winds and a bit of dipping.

We arrived back to the marina in the afternoon, and returned to the Birtok to start our wine dinner in daylight. The feats included Salföld ham and salami cuts; homemade goat and cow cheese; stove-baked layered potato with grey cattle salami and home-baked bread, and somlói noodles with chocolate dressing and homemade vanilla sauce. Instead of getting knocked out, we kept on refilling. Zsuzsa believes that even the land has different vibrations here. Who knows. One thing is for certain: the hosts can definitely tune you to the waves of Tagyon.
