We went for a ride on the Siófok Ferris wheel, and we found out that you can see all the way to Badacsony from the top.

Europe’s tallest mobile Ferris wheel has been set up on the Siófok Main Beach and it will stay there to the delight of beachgoers until 9 August. It is 70 m tall, weighs 400 tons – almost as much as a Boeing 747 – and it made its debut in 2000 at the Hanover World Fair. Since then it has been to Berlin, Zurich and Stuttgart, and now it awaits visitors in Siófok.

During the 10-minute ride in the cabin, you can see the Tihany Abbey, the viaduct and Badacsony appear before your eyes; what’s more, even the contours of the Balaton Uplands and the Somogy Hills are visible from up above.

The 40-cabin wheel is illuminated at night, so it’s bound to be Siófok’s most popular selfie spot over the summer. Adult tickets cost 2,000 HUF, whereas kids can take a ride for 1,500 HUF. Buy a full-price daily ticket for the beach, and get a 500 HUF discount coupon at the entrance.
