From the coolest spots of the Káli-medence to the hidden treasures of Siófok, the new We Love Balaton guide is a print version created by the team behind this website. Bang up to date, illustrated with quality photography and useful maps, this guide highlights the best restaurants, wineries, cultural events and outdoor activities all around the lake this summer. Published in English, Hungarian and German – and distributed free at key local venues and information points.

Making best use of all the knowledge, features, tips and reviews garnered over five years of creating the We Love Balaton website, our team has created this free print guide, reflecting all the changes, developments and improvements seen around the region. More and more winemakers are working with modern techniques, one quality restaurant is opening after the other, and the same goes for guest houses and cultural spaces, too.

Locals believe in working together, and creating communities – Balaton has vast potential, with still plenty more to offer.

Six regions in one book

The magazine presents six regions in detail: Balatonfüred, Káli-medence, Badacsony, Keszthely & Hévíz, Balatonboglár and Siófok. Besides beaches, restaurants, wine terraces, confectioneries, museums and historic sights, there are interviews with the owners of the Kistücsök restaurant, Villa Gréta, and the Laposa and Jásdi wineries, among others.

While today’s Balaton is analysed in detail, you can also learn more about its past thanks to local historian István Varga and poet Balázs Szálinger.

Where to get it?

The guides are available at Tourinform offices around the Balaton region and at various guest houses and hotels, but you can also find them at featured restaurants and other venues. A limited number of them is available in Budapest, too, at places featured in sister publication, We Love Budapest.
