Promenád, a café and confectionery recently opened at Balatongyörök’s Szépkilátó, offers a selection of homemade ice creams, desserts and breakfasts.

Recently opened Promenád Café, a bright, white building by Main Road 71, is open all year round. You can either sit inside or on the terrace, with its breathtaking view of Lake Balaton from Keszthely to Badacsony.

The drinks selection has such speciality items as coconut milk and lavender latte (800 HUF) and herb lemonade (800 HUF), on top of the usual coffee selection.

Promenád also serves breakfasts. The range includes the Promenád platter (1,350 HUF) – prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, cream cheese and olives – a grilled prosciutto sandwich (1,290 HUF) that comes in a French baguette; grilled goats’ cheese in a bun with paprika cream (1,190 HUF), as well as croissants served with homemade jam (490 HUF).

Lighter breakfasts are also available, such as the trio of grilled baked paprika, buffalo mozzarella and various olives (990 HUF), or the so-called Vegan greeting, which is basically the same but without the mozzarella.

The owners had no experience in the hospitality industry when they opened the place but, as managers of Tulipán - Local Products and Hungarian Goods Store in Keszthely, they saw the potential of this building. They decided to turn it into a coffee and breakfast spot where desserts and ice cream are also available. The goal was also to make the place both traditional and modern. The interior sports pleasant, warm tones of yellow and grey, mixed with wooden surfaces.

Promenád hopes to build a circle of regulars so quality is really important, inside and out. The ice creams are made here, just like the modern yet homely desserts and cakes free of additives. Their wines are also locally sourced from a winery in Balatonederics.
