As a sequel to its successful spring campaign, the Balaton Tourism Association brings back Nyitott Balaton in the autumn, too, between 22 October and 2 November 2014.

The fundamental thought behind the campaign is to show that the Balaton Region continues to be an attractive destination even outside the summer high season and that it has a noteworthy range of events also in the autumn.

The autumn edition focuses on Balaton wine, food and fish and active recreation. By mid-September, 102 catering service providers (including 28 wineries) and 150 accommodations joined the campaign, while local governments, museums, organizations and service providers planned 64 programmes (some of which are free).

In the West Balaton region, the opening weekend awaits everyone with a Zander Festival in Szigliget, a Wine Boat that leaves Keszthely every day on the long weekend, while open cellars and wine events are held all throughout the campaign.

There will also be guided bike tours and hikes, morning Meridian exercises, golf, a treasure hunt, and a shooting target practice. Those looking for some adrenaline might find it at the adventure park.

The various handicraft workshops, playhouses, petting zoos, pumpkin fun programmes, the crystal polishing, the "card hospital" visit, and the colourful exhibitions are not only recommended for children. The Balaton-related movies are also worth mentioning.
