It's not the biggest surprise, but Eastern Public Beach (Keleti szabadstrand) is located on the eastern side of Balatonföldvár, slightly east of the boat stop, by the edge of Szántód. This automatically means that it is easy to reach from the Szántód-Kőröshegy railway station. Obviously, there has to be a Western Public Beach as well; in fact, it is so far out west, that it is almost in Balatonszárszó.

The Eastern Public Beach is full of tall trees which provide ample shade. Parking could be a problem though: the parking lot is small, and if you want to leave your car on the side of the road, you'll have to navigate between the trees, the railroad and the bicycle path.

The use of the well-maintained showers and lavatories of the beach is free. If you're up for some adventure on a surfboard or aboard a catamaran, Viharsarok Sailing Centre is only a few metres away.

Tip: A sandy section was developed a couple of years ago. If you want to take a look around, click here.
