With the statue of István Bujtor standing guard at the gate, this 70-berth marina run by Balaton Shipping Co. is located in the prettiest area of Balatonfüred, directly by Tagore Promenade. The sculpture of the iconic actor is not the only one worth checking out here. János Pásztor’s Halász és Révész (Fisherman and Ferryman) watch over the beach with an equal amount of vigilance. If you believe what the legend says, touch the boots of the two figures, and you’ll definitely return to the elegant little town.
The list of nearby eateries includes the wonderfully scenic Vitorlás Restaurant, but if you are pining after raspberry-honey brittle ice cream, you should head to Bagaméri, which is a short walk away. For great wines visit Balaton Wine House, and for a slice of delicious cake drop by Kedves.
A blue ribbon day at Balatonfüred, with the unveiling of a new harbour, Kékszalag, capable of accommodating some 140 sailing boats.
