Led by IT expert turned winemaker István Bencze, Bencze Estate is one of the young, exciting, and innovative wineries on Szent György-hegy. The cellar, located near Gilvesy Winery and Szászi Cellar, has 20 hectares of land – most of it is occupied by old Hungarian varieties: the fruits of Kéknyelű, red and blue Bakator varieties will be turned into wines that’ll travel to the best restaurants of the world.
In addition to the cellar, the family also runs a couple of modern-rustic style guesthouses, which are prefect for taking a break from the bustle of the city (or the Balaton shore). There’s no hake, lángos, or draft beer, but you can get fine wines, silence, and tasty bites from local producers at their wine tastings.
