Diás Island lies in the Kis-Balaton region, southwest of Lake Balaton, most of which constitutes a nature reserve. The area is known for its marshiness and considerably fluctuating water levels.

The island is accessible from the direction of Sármellék at the intersection of Highways 71 and 76. In its hidden depths you’ll find the Memorial House of Tüskevár author István Fekete where visitors can take a peek inside the great writer’s study.

The memorial room of scientist Jakab Vönöczky Schenk is also found here, as is the replica of “Matula’s Hut”.

Tip: Small workshops are organized for schoolchildren and kindergarteners to familiarize them with the versatile birdlife and fish of the surrounding area.
