It was about 200 years ago that the ancestors of the Koczor family planted the first wine rows on Pécsely’s Derékhegy. A lot of time has passed since then, and the hard work of the clan seems to have paid off: the establishment of Koczor Winery reflects the family’s view of winemaking as a true calling. Set amid fairy tale-like surroundings, the winery also includes a number of guest rooms, which make this venue a great option for those wishing to retreat to the tranquil setting of the Balaton Uplands for several days.
If you want to have a good meal, visit the Koczors between Wednesday and Sunday, when their kitchen is open from noon to 10pm. You’ll find Hungarian cuisine here, with the specialty being the so called Füredi Sistergős, a spare rib roast with potato latkes, sprinkled with cheese and served with sour cream on top.
