The “gate of Somogy”, the Szántódrév (ferry port) is right across the lake from its counterpart in Tihany. It is not as well equipped as the Tihany port, but the building on the shore resembling an open-mouthed whale is an architectural curiosity. The area next to the building is an ideal rest stop for bikers, and there is a public toilet behind the building.

From here it only takes a couple of minutes to get to Zamárdi or the center of Balatonföldvár on bike. On your way out of the port, you’ll find an excellent ice cream shop, and you’ll also pass Rév Csárda by the intersection leading toward Zamárdi and Földvár. A white military vehicle used in the Angelina Jolie movie In the Land of Blood and Honey has been put on display in the yard of the csárda.
