Kárpáti Ice Cream Parlour is a family business making artisan ice cream, located in the heart of Balatonföldvár, a few minutes from the train station, by the entrance of the marina. Every year they make 40-50 different kinds, out of which 12 are available for purchase from the counter at a time. Their selection is far above the classic chocolate-vanilla axis: owner Péter Kárpáti is keen on experimenting, and he has produced the fig and walnut flavour that earned a special prize for the Földvár establishment in the 2014 Ice Cream of Balaton contest.
If your religion and blood sugar level allow, try the Mór Kehely (Moorish Cup) made with a special dark chocolate sauce. Those who prefer Belgian treats to cold ones don’t have to venture too far either, as the waffle counter is right next to the ice creams. Still not satisfied? There’s a versatile range of Balaton wines, as well as wheat and dark beers to choose from.
