Just over 20 kilometres away from the southern Balaton shore lies a 300-hectare eco-farm, tourist attraction and religious community all in one: the Krishna Valley. The community living in the valley is self-sufficient for the most part, for example a big chunk of the energy they consume comes from solar panels, and they grow a significant amount of organic fruit and vegetables, which you can try on the premises at the Govinda restaurant, selling delicious vegetarian dishes spanning from salads and rose water lemonade to desserts drenched in honey.
You can take part in various thematic events as well as weekend workshops and even the Krishna Valley indulgence ceremony.
Tip: Accommodation in the valley is limited, but you’ll have no trouble finding a place to stay in Somogyvámos.
