The season has kicked off, and so has We Love Balaton!

During the past two and a half months, we thoroughly investigated the tips we gathered, and roamed around Lake Balaton. As decent tourists do, we took heaps of photos, shot videos, and wrote down (almost) everything regarding the cuisine, the drinks, and our experiences. Starting today, we will publish the results on the website. The restaurants, bars, beaches, and lookout towers we recommend can be browsed with the Balaton Explorer – supplemented with reports about the places we have already visited. We are open to both positive and negative comments, since we will happily take another trip to these spots anytime. The Magazine offers pieces of advice on where you should ride your bike, which wine you should taste, or what sort of board you should surf with.

We Love Balaton is the fruit of the cooperation between the founders of We Love Budapest (Regina Papp and István Száraz) and the founders of Balaton Sound Festival (Norbert Lobenwein and Zoltán Fülöp). Although the page’s owners and editors all have ties to Lake Balaton, the patrons’ importance should not be overlooked. They stood behind our mission with their reliable recommendations about the places worth checking out. Balázs Csapody, Henrik Hoffmann, Gergely Horváth or Dóra Prokopp are local entrepreneurs, tourism experts, or Balaton-loving celebrities well-acquainted with Balaton, thus they were loaded with tremendous tips and stories about the lake. That said, we have no intention of stopping here, and the site’s goal is to conjure an authentic, unique image of Balaton with the assistance of the locals.
