Is there cell phone reception in the middle of Balaton, can you paddle with a tablet, and how many steps does it take to go along the path to Kisfaludy-kilátó? We looked for the tops of Balaton, while testing a waterproof cell phone and the 3G network.

Smartphones are the modern Swiss penknives, and the crew of We Love Balaton loves to travel around Balaton as much as to download different applications as long as the battery and the phone reception can keep up the pace with us. Our preferred cell phone’s battery would never die, there would be reception no matter where we go, and besides the high-speed internet it would have the same abilities as the brand new Mars Rover, plus it would be waterproof, and it could crawl back to us if we forgot it somewhere. The only problem is that this phone has not been invented yet.

Sony recently came out with the waterproof Xperia Z cell phone and tablet, and Vodafone has covered almost the whole country with 3G internet. They asked us to take their products on a trip around Balaton. We agreed to hit the road, and looked for the biggest, most interesting and the best places, as we have already mentioned earlier. We jumped into the water and the beer with the Xperia, and we tried to use the mobile phone in the most extreme circumstances.

You can post to Instagram from a catamaran sailing in the middle of Balaton, because there is 3G-connection and the cell phone can handle the water as well. You only have to hold on tight  to the catamaran with one hand, while you're posting the picture with the smartphone. The only problem is the water: as the drops touch the screen, it seems like four other people are also typing something on your phone.
