As it is the season of Advent, there will be Advent programmes in several places around Balaton, giving 1UP to the traditional fairs. In Hévíz you can enjoy a gospel concert on Saturday and participate in a charity cake sale on Sunday, if you can leave the ice rink that opens on 6 December.  In Siófok, Lilla Vincze (formerly singer of Napoleon Boulevard) will headline the concerts. In Balatonfüred, the Levendula House will entertain children with lavender-themed programmes in the Tourinform Office next to the Round Church.

Revolutionist, prophet, worker - Béla Kondor exhibition, Balatonfüred

Béla Kondor is considered to be one of the greatest Hungarian artists of the 20th century. His unusual nature, world view and early death - like those of Attila József, poet - cast a mythical mist over his art, which include a wide variety of things from ecthings to poems. A part of this massive heritage, mostly pieces of graphic art are exhibited in the Vaszary Villa, in Balatonfüred. The title – Revolutionist, Prophet, Worker – is also a reference to colourful, contradictory personality of the artist. Kondor's pieces are exhbited alongside one piece each by the artists who inspired him, like Dürer and Rembrandt. The  exhbition is open until March 2014.

Alvin és a Mókusok, Supernem, Veszprém

In the Expresszó Klub (Veszprém) the teenage punk Alvin és a Mókusok and the also bloody silly Supernem will maek some noise on Saturday this weekend. On Thursday, the ultimate Hungarian pop star  Punnany Massif takes the stage.

Santa Claus Rally, Veszprém

This is the traditional year-end race of the Hungarian rally championship in Veszprém. On Friday, you can also test the racing cars. All you have to do is to download and fill the necessary form, which you'll find on the homepage of the event.

Winter hiking, Kab-hegy-Nagyvázsony, Szántód-Zamárdi

Kab-hegy is one of the highest points of the Balaton-felvidék, near Nagyvázsony. In the summer, it is an excellent spot for hiking, which is worth a try in wintertime as well. On 8 December, you can be part of this experience in the frame of an organized event. Motivation consists of pálinka at the start line, and hot dog sausage and tea on top of  Kab-hegy. The hike ends right where it started, the distance is about 20 kms. In Nagyvázsony, you can also find programmes for the weekend that are less exhausting, which are mostly aimed at children. There will be a shorter and less hilly excursion near Szántód on 8 December. The route starts out from the ferry landing, goes up to the Kőhegy lookout tower, and then turns back to the ferry.

Wine, music, poems, Balatonfüred

There are many associations to cabernet sauvignon from viniclture to drinking, but poetry might not be the first thing that pops into our mind. At the Figula Winery in Balatonfüred, however, poems and music are associated with the wine produced from this grape variety. On Sunday, actress Kitty Kéri will recite the poems, while János Figula, brother to the head of the winery (Mihály Figula Jr.) will be responsible for music. He is a master of percussion, sometimes he also plays the drums in the nearby wine bistro Kredenc.
