How come there is a screening room, a tapas bar and competitors' wines in a  winery? Where are their wines popular if they're unknown in Hungary? The Ax&Ax winery in Kéthely handles everything, but wines in an unconventional way.

The living refutation of the principle 'what we do not know about does not exist'  is found 10 minutes from the south shore of Lake Balaton, right by the main road on the edge of Kéthely. The Ax&Ax winery was not known to anyone but the profession in Hungary, that is up to now, despite the fact that it stands here in full glory.

The winery in Austrian ownership did not put in an appearance in Hungary so far, while their bottled wines have been sought after in Austria, Switzerland, and Germany - they even won a medal at an international wine contest in Vienna. Now they take a step towards Hungarians.

Their wine is 100% Hungarian, made of locally grown grapes. The centre in Kéthely, however, offexperience thn wine.

One has to travel probably as far as Vienna for the next running tapas bar. Instead, Austrian businessmen drive over here to taste the ham from Spain and the cakes from Marcali in Kéthely. This place is not an exclusive luxury ghetto: anyone can drop in, even for just a cup of espresso.

The screening room of the winery. Thanks to its conference rooms and other facilities, the complex can host any kind of event - even if it has nothing to do with wine.

Black box theatre for exclusive parties. You can sip merlot here while sitting on light painted blocks.

Wine museum, corking machine, aroma bar. There is a way to get closer to winemaking than wathcing the steel tanks through a window.

The red wines mature in Hungarian oak barrels. The door of the conference room is right opposite to the barrique barrels. Winemaking  is intertwined with everything from conferences to culture here, also in terms of space.

The Burgenland-based Achs family has Hungarians as well in its ancestry. They choose the south shore of Lake Balaton for winemaking on purpose.

The wine tasting hall named wine cathedral was intended to host weddings and exhibitions as well apart from wine tastings.

The winery also boasts of an open-air stage, with performances in various genres from operetta to jazz

You can get the cheapest Ax&Ax wines for 1400 HUF, while the cap is 100 times as high. The bottle of their top wine, K11 costs 142 000 HUF. Surprisingly, the shop of the winery plans to sell wines by other Hungarian winemakers as well soon.
