We didn't get lost geographically, but we were somewhat disoriented among all the ice-cream choices of the Florida Ice-cream Parlour that has been converting guests into fans since 1992 - in Máriafürdő instead of the US. The owner has been diligently answering questions about the secret of success for a while now, and he even hands you a 3 scoop cone while doing so.

The owner of the Florida Ice-cream Parlour is a perfectionist when it comes to ice cream and he has other ways to express it than sane human beings on hot summer days. From 10 Am to 10 PM on every single day from March to October, he busies himself behind the ice cream counter, selling 32 kinds of ice and coordinating a staff of 12. The result is a queue of customers behind the counter - and not only holidayers from around town. There are people popping over for a scoop (or rather: more) of Florida from Fonyód, even.

Here's the thing: they use animal-origin milk cream procured from Cserpes Dairies and Italian ingredients in cooking ice cream according to the rules of the Italian school. The owner learned the craft form his wife, and since then the family has also welcomed the addition of a boy with degree in pastry-making. So Florida is teamwork at its best, with focus on providing top quality products and service.

The flavours include apricot, dragon fruit, rose, cheescake, lime, kinder, and lemon-ginger. The light ice cream of the day is always popular - it was a water-based apricot prepared with stevia on the day of our visit. A 4-dkg scoop costs 190 HUF for which you can even taste the nationwide runner-up curd cheese ball or the also medal-winner plum ball flavoured ice.

Florida was the place that cooked up the Balatoni randevú (Balaton rendez-vous, champagne-marzipan-strawberry ice), which was chosen Ice Cream of the Balaton 2014. The various refreshments served here are also gaining popularity: the best sellers being crushed ice coffee, homemade lemonade and smoothies. If you're overage, you can also opt for an alcoholic crushed ice drink and enjoy it on the patio in company if you like, because there's enough room for several groups of people.

No matter if you drop by on account of the heat or you have other reasons: Florida  is always capable of adding a bit of endorphin to your Balaton moments.
