Not far from the Balatonfüred pier, on the Zákonyi Ferenc sétány, it's always a bit crowded. One of the reasons is the Korzó ice cream parlour. The family enterprise that opened in 2007 has become an iconic spot of the town since and we're brave enough to claim that you can have one of the best ice creams of the Balaton region here.

To be honest, we were quite annoyed by the long queues that blocked the Zákonyi Ferenc Promenade, so we decided to check out the what caused the disturbance. At the beginning, we thought it was something to do with chaos theory or mass psychosis (or both), but then we realized that it was rather about the 220 HUF, 6.5 dkg poppy seed ice cream prepared with sea salt and caramel and its equally irresistible partners in crime - perfectly valid reasons for breaking out of your daily routine with disturbed senses.

As we got closer and closer to the place, it suddenly dawned on us: the locals, people passing through Balatonfüred and those spending their vacation here are simply in awe of the Korzó Fagyizó. The ice cream parlour close to Üvegtigris Buffet was founded by one of the onwers, Norbert and his dad in 2007, and reached its current level of extreme admiration starting from scrap. The team picked up the ropes of the ice cream business from books and the guidance of enthusiastic masters, and the fact that they have been maintaining a positive approach all-way-long - knowing well this was what they wanted to do - paid off.

Since then, Korzó has become an iconic spot of Balatonfüred, where in high season you'll meet long queues of people waiting to get their hands on their favourite ices.

The secret? Their answer was that it's all about a fastidious approach, quality ingredients and creativity. The latter went somewhat wild at the beginning, back when you could meet creations like strawberry-rosé, lavender-white chocolate- raspberry, basil-curd cheese-peach jam, and honey-almond nougat here. They of course do not let down people with conservative taste buds either: the classic flavours do neither disappoint.

We think that success has one more ingredient: the team of Korzó has also learnt the great secret of catering, which says that selling quality at a comparably reasonable price will soon yield returns.
