Sarokház is Balatonfüred’s latest ice cream parlour showcasing classic flavours inspired by cakes. Julianna Nyári’s uncommon flavour pairings derive from her favourite desserts and an ice-cream making course in Italy.
Balatonfüred’s new quality ice cream parlour is the recently opened Sarokház Ice Cream Parlour, already busy with customers.
The venue is located at the junction of Zákonyi Ferenc utca and Jókai utca – Sarokház means 'Corner House'. The shop has a huge array of flavours so it’s hard to make a choice. Besides the classics, the selection includes Catalan cream, melon, hazelnut and chocolate, yogurt with peach dressing, and strawberry cottage cheese (300 HUF/scoop). Small signs indicate the allergens in all of the variations, making it easier to find the ones that are suitable for those who have to be careful with their diet.
Julianna Nyári learned the secrets of ice-cream making at Caprigiani’s course in Bologna. The young girl from Zirc has been a confectioner for three years. She decided to spend the summer at Lake Balaton after a trip to Balatonfüred and has since taken on the challenge of running an ice cream parlour.
She first studied in Budapest and then got the chance to train at Carpigiani, the legendary Italian manufacturer, where she learned all the tricks of the trade.
About 20 types of ice cream are made at Sarokház and they continuously experiment with new flavours as well as lactose- and sugar-free varieties. The freshly frozen purees of 100% fruit come from Italy.
Julianna’s knowledge of confectionery is an eternal source of inspiration: when she craves a new dessert or flavour, she tries to recreate it as an ice cream. That’s how the popular strawberry cottage cheese version or the Rómeó, an Oreo ice cream, was born. Its partner, Júlia, is a vanilla-and-caramel flavour with a white chocolate wafer on top, a personal favourite of the person who made it.
