Newly opened Neked Főztem Reggeli+burger has teamed up with a herb garden at the gateway to the Káli Basin.

According to one of the owners at Neked Főztem, Orsi Horváth, there was a real need for a breakfast spot where they were in Zánka but their Gastropub didn’t have the capacity to expand the menu. So they moved their burger outlet from the beach to open a place where breakfast shares the spotlight, as close to their original location as possible.. Orsi and co-owner Csongor also opened Neked Főztem in Balatonfüred so, along with the Gastropub outlet, they are now managing three places at the same time.

In addition to all this, Tamás Takács, manager of herb producers Gyógynövényvölgy, also wanted to expand and was looking for a partner to team up with. This new Zánka venue is the result of his involvement. The collaboration goes beyond sharing a terrace: the edible plates and cutlery are made with wheat bran and cane sugar which end up in eco-centre compost (unless the guests eat them), while Gyógynövényvölgy provides the herbs and rocket for the burgers.

The unusual breakfasts are available from 8:30am to 11am, so abundant that you can easily skip lunch afterwards. The selection has heavier and lighter options as well. The pork spare rib (1,390 HUF) represents the former – sous-vide ribs are topped with balsamic vinegar, mustard, grilled aubergine, and with a bell pepper, salsa and pickles.

The baked kalács (sweet bread) served with baked peach and rosemary (1,090 HUF) is for those who prefer something sweet for breakfast. Instead of the typical egg-based dishes, here they have an egg casserole (1,390 HUF) with béchamel sauce and cheese. It's crunchy on the outside and soft within, and served with a baguette and a salad of rocket and dried tomatoes.

There are also lighter, more traditional breakfasts, such as croissant with homemade strawberry jam (890 HUF), butter, ham and vegetables, or homemade yoghurt with oatmeal, chia seeds and dried fruit (690 HUF).

The menu is entirely different from the Gastropub's selection. Besides burgers, they also serve grilled goats' cheese and cold soups made with seasonal ingredients. There are four burger varieties, all served with chips and coleslaw, and the meat (or the cheese) is topped with cucumber salsa and onion jam.

The mangalica burger (2,490 HUF) comes with grilled tomatoes, the beefburger (2,690 HUF) is with bacon and mayonnaise, while the lamb burger is made with soy dressing. The vega burger (1,890 HUF) contains goats' cheese. Reggeli+burger will be seasonal, closing in September until next summer.
