Many believe that the smallest of the region’s solitary hills has the best view. There’s no need for a lookout tower up there, and the climb to the top won’t kill you either.
Tóti-hegy, 346 metres high, only counts as a small hill, but it does have a really beautiful view. The climb up is easy, except for the last couple of metres before the summit. It’s all worth it, though: you can see multiple hillocks, the Balaton Uplands, and the lake itself from the top.
It’s also a nice hike for those who want to skip the summit as there’s an old quarry along the way, not to mention the deteriorating, abandoned cellars and press houses that are now inhabited by nature. Walking along the shaded trails surrounded by greenery is truly magical.
To reach it, you can follow one of the two routes that lead here: the first starts from Salföld and it’s a bit longer; the other starts in Káptalantóti, where you can stop by the Istvándy Winery before heading to the hill, and drink a glass of the famous Kéknyelű before the two-kilometre hike that takes about an hour.
