The neo-swing singer Alice Francis and UK indie band Amber Run are the first two headliners confirmed for this year’s Valley of Arts. The festival will take place from July 19 to 28, in Kapolcs, Taliándörögd and Vigántpetend.

Valley of Arts is a niche festival that takes place in small communities in the Káli Basin, just north of Balaton. In recent years, along with literary events, plays and dance performances, the Valley has been putting more focus on live music. Although the line-up usually comprises Hungarian musicians, a couple of foreign acts will also take the stages at small villages around the Káli Basin. While the full schedule for 2019 is still unknown, two international acts have just been announced: Alice Francis and Amber Run.

Alice Francis, also known by her stage name, Miss Flapperty, mixes swing and Charleston with hip hop and electronica. Her first album, St. James Ballroom, was released in 2012. Together with her band, she takes the Panoráma Stage on July 20.

Nottingham band Amber Run garnered 55 million views on YouTube with the hit I Found. Their second album, For a Moment, I Was Lost, was released in 2017. They play Kapolcs on Thursday, July 25.

Also at the Valley of Arts, the Balaton Uplands National Park, WWF, Bakony-Balaton Geopark and  the Jane Goodall Institution will have workshops and games, while a media camp offers tips and tricks for budding photographers and videographers.
