Some people say the most beautiful thing about the south shore is the view it has of the north shore. With its hills and forests, the area of Zamárdi disproves this notion, partly thanks to Kőhegy Lookout Tower. Standing on a hill 220 metres high, it’s an easy climb. Brick stairs lead to the quaint, whitewashed tower that was given over for public use in 2000.
You can visit the lookout in bad weather, too, and from it you can see the Tihany Peninsula, and everything to the left and right of it. In the other direction, you can see Somogyi-dombság. The lookout tower is equipped with a drinking fountain, restrooms and a buffet.
How to get there: Type 'Kilátó dűlő' into your GPS, and the lookout tower is on the hilltop. You can also get there on foot, it’s a 30-minute walk from Zamárdi station.
