It’s looking to be another bumper weekend at Lake Balaton, with smaller events and gatherings now allowed and a dozen outstanding attractions opened around the Balaton Uplands National Park.
Transport
The summer schedule of Hungarian state rail MÁV is now in force, with 51 InterCity services heading for the lake every day. A fast train, the Jégmadár, will be running from Budapest Keleti to the south shore, while the Tekergő heads for the north shore from Kőbánya-Kispest.
Leisure
With free beaches becoming ever more popular and shorelines busier, Csopak has set up a web camera to indicate how crowded the beach is.
The Festetics Palace in Keszthely has reopened, with extended opening hours and attractions such as old-fashioned post vans.
