Popular with major budget carriers more than 15 years ago, Hévíz-Balaton at Sármellék near Keszthely is now back on the map with the news that Wizz Air will be using the airport. The Hungarian low-cost carrier will be flying between Dortmund and Balaton twice a week from 16 June.

Serving more than 100,000 passengers a year around 2007-08, Hévíz-Balaton dropped off the radar shortly afterwards. Rebranded, the airport was mainly used by German charter services before the recent news that Budapest-based budget airline Wizz Air now has a slot there.

Passengers will be able to fly to and from Dortmund on Thursdays and Sundays from 16 June.
