From drum & bass icons to contemporary hip-hop stars, all kinds of top global acts are playing at Lake Balaton this summer. Here are ten to look out for:

Future - Balaton Sound

Future has been a leading figure of hip hop for a while now. Auto-Tuned trap music conquered the world’s streaming charts partly due to his influence, so it’s no wonder that he’s been a headliner at major European festivals lately.

When: 8pm on Thursday, July 4

Denzel Curry - Balaton Sound

This important figure of new-wave, political hip hop comes to Balaton on the back of Zuu, his coming-of-age album and big hit of 2019. He might even play his Rage Against The Machine cover in Zamárdi, who knows?

UB40 – VeszprémFest

Following the legal disputes around the band’s name, UB40 Reunited come to Veszprém with some the group's founding members. As a bonus, festival organisers will give a coupon for a free glass of wine to anyone attending.

Katie Melua – VeszprémFest

The British-Georgian singer was in the spotlight in the 2000s and she remains revered by her fans. She now returns to Veszprém, and this year has promised to sing the most popular songs from her six albums.

Rick Astley – Paloznak Jazz Picnic

With his iconic jacket and dance moves, Rick Astley embodies the '80s. While many will be here for Never Gonna Give You Up, Astley produced and released a hit album as recently as 2018.

When: 9.30pm on Saturday, August 3

Lola Marsh – Veszprém Street Music Festival

Israeli singer Lola Marsh and her band have already appeared at the Sziget Festival and the  A38 Ship, and now you can catch them playing their summery pop hits in a much more intimate setting.

When and where: Concerts will be played at various spots around Veszprém between July 17 and 20, the schedule to be released on the festival website.

Sian Evans (Kosheen) – Valley of Arts

Bristol band Kosheen resurfaced with the revival of their hit, Hide U. Now their singer Sian Evans has started touring with her own crew, with a set partly comprised of the band’s songs. She comes to Hungary hot on the heels of Glastonbury.

Bastille - Strand Festival

One of the most popular contemporary pop bands return to Hungary, this time to play Zamárdi as part of their tour promoting their latest album, Doom Days.

When: 10pm on Wednesday, August 21

Jason Derulo - Strand Festival

Derulo is one of pop’s leading figures this decade, making songs with names such as David Guetta, Snoop Dogg and Nicki Minaj., After playing Budapest Park in 2018, he now appears at Lake Balaton.

Róisín Murphy - Balaton Piknik

The field below the Gömbkilátó lookout tower in Balatonboglár comes alive every September as a farewell to summer. This year, Róisín Murphy appears, with the best songs from her solo career and hits from her time as part of trip-hop duo, Moloko.
