Badacsony is one of the best known hills of Lake Balaton. In the minds of many, it’s associated with wine and basalt, which comes as no surprise, given that the 438 metres high isolated hill, which used to be a volcano some many million years ago, is now mostly the home of vineyards. It’s also rich in natural treasures, many of which were discovered by the mine that used to operate here. You can explore the hill on Nordic walking trails and study trails.
Although two hours are enough to get from the bottom to Kisfaludy Observation Tower on top, it’s also easy to spend a whole day wandering around the hill, exploring all the sights like Rózsakő, the Ranolder Cross, the Exiles Stairs and many more.
