If you hear anyone refer to Balatonföldvár’s beach, you can be sure they are talking about the Central Public Beach, which is located in the centre of the lakeside stretch of town, beyond the lovely gate leading to the pier. Several food stands, restaurants and shops can be found in the gate building, left of which there’s a huge grassy area with plenty of room for sunbathers. Sporty beachgoers can play ball at the nearby five-a-side football field, and kids can hang out at the playground.

Unfortunately, the water in this part of the lake is full of pondweed, and while that signals excellent water quality, bathers will definitely have a hard time appreciating it. The promenade of the beach is lined with plane trees, which leads to a channel separating beachgoers from a nearby grove. Halfway down the promenade, a stage is set up every summer where bands and theatre companies provide holiday entertainment.

Tip: Those coming by car will be pleased to hear that parking is free of charge everywhere in town.
