No wonder József Egry is known as "the painter of Balaton": he was zealous about the lake, which was also the number one theme of his pictures and pastels.
The Egry József Memorial Museum was opened in 1973, on the 90th anniversary of the painter’s birth in the artist’s newly expanded atelier in Badacsony. Surprisingly, it is located on the promenade that is named after him.
