The holiday home of politician Endre Bajcsy-Zsilinszky stands next to the beach of Pálköve, between the rails and the lake. A memorial exhibition opened here in 2018.
Starting from the 1920s, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky used to spend his summers here: first in a tent, then in a cottage he built himself. He spent his time working on articles and other papers. The holiday home was finished in 1937.
The last summer he spent here was in 1943 and he was planning on living here after creating a democratic Hungary but he was arrested by the Gestapo for his role in the resistance. He was executed later that year. A memorial day is held every year on the weekend nearest to the politician’s birthday on June 6.
