There’s an artificially dammed lake hiding in the valley near Bakonybél, known by the names Hubertlaki Lake or Bakonyi Gyilkos (“Killer”) Lake. The latter name originates from the Gyilkos Lake of Romania (“Killer Lake” or Red Lake).
The area gives home to newts and other rare amphibians. Hubertlak was the former hunting lodge of the Esterházy family, which burned down – in its place stands a guesthouse, operated by the forestry. The excursion destination can be approached on a beautiful, easy path that starts from the Emil Meadow, located around 3.5 km away from Bakonybél.
