Fortunately, more and more quality buffets crop up on the Balaton shore. One establishment serving as a great example of this trend can be found on the north shore, at Fövenyes Beach, not too far from Tihany. The selection of Kalóz includes simple, yet creative dishes made from fresh ingredients: in the open-view grill kitchen such delicious meals are made as the stuffed pies, the famous catfish and chips, homemade burgers, the beef tenderloin marinated in mustard, or the skewered catfish. The menu changes daily, and we can catch soups and salads on it, for a bit more than the usual beach-prices.
Local wines and home-made cordials (lavender, rose, etc.) go well with the food, as do the draft beers and the exquisite pálinkas. In terms of atmosphere, the place deserves extra points for its chill terrace with pallet furniture. It is also good to keep in mind that cultural events and concerts are regularly organized at Kalóz. And yet another good news: their little brother was opened on the beach of Badacsonytomaj during the summer of 2016.
Tip: The current favorite is the rib-filled burger named Fekete Vitorlás (“black sails”), which was named after its black bun.
