Far from the bustle of town, located on the south-western edge of Keszthely, Helikon Beach can be accessed via the main road running from the centre toward the city limits.

After the Szigetfürdő public beach became unsuitable to accommodate the growing crowd in the wake of WWI, the new beach was opened in 1927 with a capacity of 1,900, meaning that every beachgoer is entitled to 10 m2 of green sunbathing space.

Kids can run free in the sandy children’s bay, which lends the beach a cosy vibe. The level of services available at the beach far exceeds expectations based on the traditional Balaton beach assortment: apart from the pedal boat-sun lounger combo, there’s a massage service, three playgrounds and more – no wonder that the beach received the Blue flag with the yellow waves from the Balatoni Szövetség. As of the 2015 summer season, a free, guarded bicycle parking facility has been inaugurated to the delight of two-wheeler riding guests, while those who prefer to drive can park their car in the parking lot that can accommodate more than a hundred vehicles.
