Situated within arm’s reach from Balaton, by the charming village of Tihany, this tiny tarn called Lake Belső was created by volcanic activity. Many people are unaware of its existence, but if you follow the scent of lavender and the herons soaring in the sky, you’ll find your way here quite easily.
The scenic surroundings feature the church of Tihany’s Benedictine Abbey, as well as gray cattle herds, a draw well and small boat swaying on the lake. The lakeshore is often dotted with anglers waiting to catch carp, bream and zander.
If you find yourself in the area, make sure to visit Levendula Ház and the Aranyház geyser cone.
