Fonyód has had its own marina since 1846, the first season of the Balaton Shipping Company. Named after György Keresztes, the architect who designed Balaton’s piers and the protective infrastructure on the shore, the marina comprises one hundred berths in addition to the five guest berths and the spots reserved for the water police.
Thanks to the long pier and the nearby island named Szúnyog-sziget, this marina is shielded from strong winds like few others around Balaton.
Sailors are warned to beware of the fact that they can easily run aground on the underwater foot of Fonyód’s hill. Outsiders can't enter the marina. The marina has Wi-Fi access, and a round-the-clock harbor master service.
