We have nothing against fenced-up, paying beaches, but Zamárdi's public beach is how every beach should look like in an ideal universe: an over 3-km-long beach with a promenade, benches, buffets, music and a magnificent view of the Tihany Peninsula. An ideal spot not only for dipping, but also for hanging out with friends, running, cycling or taking your kid on a stroll. It could do with more lavatories and parking spaces, though.
This beach is the venue of Balaton Sound Festival. Mauro Ristorante, one of the most beloved restaurants around Balaton is located on its eastern end. Families should keep in mind the pier at Bácskai Street, at the centre of the beach, because it often hosts various, mostly family-friendly events.
