Easter warmup
The wine dinner of the Németh Winery in Badacsonyon 19 April promises to be a proper warmup before the Easter feasts. The winery will serve 11 types of wine, including the Zúzmarás 2004 sweet wine. The welcome drink will be a Riesling 2013. The wines will accompany home-made goat cheeses, mangalitza ham, sausage and liver spread, and the favourite spreads of the Németh winemaker family. To double the fun, Tamás „Csúr” Geiger will play the guitar during the evening. The crown on the evening will be Badachoc: dried fig soaked in Kéknyelű, drenched in aszú and served in a dark chocolate cup. Don't tell us you have no inclination whatsoever to attend!
Use the ham!
Both ham and eggs are rich in vitamins, proteins and energy, so be sure to put them to good use before or after doing sports. Before the Németh wine dinner, you just might have time for the first guided kayak and canoe tour of the Balatonfenyvesi Tourism Associaton on Easter Saturday. The location of the event is the mysterious Nagyberek, a part of Hungary that is relatively little known despite the fact that the popular youth novel Tüskevár by István Fekete was also set here. If you are interested in discovering the mystic forests, groves and bird species of Somogy County, but you have family obligations for the day, don't worry! In case there are enough participants, the Association also organizes such tours throughout the spring and the summer. 5 pieces of canoes for 4 and 5 pieces of kayaks for 2, plus accessories (life jackets, paddles) are at your disposal.
On Easter Sunday, you can run 6.5 km, 10.5 km, a half-marathon or a marathon in the frame of the spring leg of Maratonman in Balatonfüred. The course touches the most beautiful parts of Füred, including the Tagore Promenade and the Marina, so attending is worth the while even for supporters.
Easter with buffaloes
There will be several options for traditional egg decorating-jumping castle popping Easter events at Lake Balaton during Easter weekend. Fun locations include Siófok, Veszprém and Hévíz as well. The most exciting option, however, seems to be that in Kápolnapuszta. This event will not take place in a city centre, but in the buffalo reserve near Zalakomár. Buffaloes, handicraft workshops and treasure hunts - what more do you need?
The Tapolca Cave Lake is open!
The Tapolca Cave Lake was closed recently on account of the construction of a new visitors' centre. The centre is not finished as of yet, but the lake was reopened on Thursday and will remain open during Easter. Although the sacks of cement do not block the way of boats, you can enter at a discount price until the end of the reconstruction works.
wine+Jazz in Kredenc
The Kredenc Wine Bistro in Balatonfüred opened four years ago, right in the middle of the Reform Era city centre. The place of music- and wine-soaked merriments also prepares for Eastertime along the lines of its own traditions: with an Easter jazz concert and the wines of the Szent Donát Winery off Csopak. The star of the evening of 19 April will be the Csopak Demizson Allstars Orchestra.
Castle gate opening in Szigliget
Knights' training and page ceremony, puppet theatre and arms shows, rock opera and musical - this is just a taste of the season opening of the Szigligeti Castle on the 3-day Easter weekend. The renovated castle reopened at the beginning of the year with interactive presentations and renewed spaces. Also accessible for wheelchair users.
