Asphalt Surfing May Fest on 1 May along the Balatonalmádi - Veszprém axis. You can participate in the Skateboard May Fest with any type of board; start from the JET petrol station in Veszprém at 10 AM. All-day cruising, bar-visits, bogrács meals, and evening concerts in the Méj’Víz (Balatonalmádi).
Watery
The Balatonfenyvesi Tourism Association launches its first kayak-canoe tour this Saturday (19 April). The tours will explore the scenic Nagyberek, known from István Fekete's novel, Tüskevár. Although the view has changed somewhat since the conception of the above novel, the exciting world of Somogy's forests, fields and groves and the peculiar bird species still make this part of the country unique.
There will be windsurf competitions in Balatonlelle and Balatonfűzfő in the second half of May. Turquoise waters, coulourful sails, and boys and girls of beauty and skill guarantee the cool. If you are one for the surfing feel, then do not miss the opportunity to try riding the waves at a discount price in the frame of the Open Balaton event series. You might not get to experience total freedom upon your first try, but standing up on the surf board and remaining upright will be just as exhilarating.
You can blend some chill with the adrenaline by visiting the Viharsarok Sailing Centre on the long weekend of 1 May, because they offer a free yoga class – not only for surfers - before or after your discount surf session, at 11 AM on 1 May.
Season opening sailing banquet and Bahart Regatta Sailing Race in Siófok on the weekend of 10-11 May. Message in a bottle, wind band, interactive kids' programme, concerts and lantern-lit sailboat procession, plus the book premier of the 11-time Blue Ribbon-winner, Farkas Litkey.
Sail-setting celebration and season opening sailing race in Balatonfüred on Saturday, 17 May. Plus a fishing competition, a wind band, a folklore show and a boat for the audience of the sailing race. Balaton yoga camp in Révfülöp between 30 April and 4 May. Perfect your breathing technique and yoga poses, relax and meditatate at dawn and in the early evening. You migth skip lángos for once, because the chef of the Govinda Restaurant will ensure the quality of your daily three vegetarian/vegan meals.
Jaw-Dropping
Are you in love with veteran cars? Then you'll also love the Balaton Classic Ramada Grand Prix and Veteran car Meet-up, because there will be plenty of old timer beauties at this event in balatonalmádi on 10 May. The event is part of the Oldtimer Supercup. You can participate with any authentically modified veteran car that complies with the Hungarian traffic regulations. The cars drive through Balatonfüred and Tihany to Tapolca, where drivers will have lunch, and then they return Almádi.
Golf
The 25th Hungarian Golf Cup will take place at the Royal Balaton Golf & Yacht Club of Balatonudvari on the first weekend of May. The sight of green slopes is already worth a visit. Afterwards, we'd recommend having a cup of tea and a slice of cake in Sajkod with birdsong in the background.
