Nagyon Balaton will open the summer festival season on 6 June in a very special way: imagine two ferries in the middle of Lake Balaton, with stars above and waves below, while the sound of violin echoes beack from Tihany. Csillag vagy fecske? Most múlik pontosan, or Fiúk ölébe a lányok.
The event series that focused around 20 August last year starts with a one-of-a-kind, festive event this Friday and will keep going through summer parties until the Fish Festival in Siófok in October.
In the frame of the co-production of the Balaton Shipping Co. and the VOLT Productions a ferry leaves the Tihany ferry stop and another leaves Szántód to be conjoined in the middle of Lake Balaton. At 8:30 PM, the Csík Zenekar begins a 1.5-hour concert, and throughout one of the most popular and varied folk music show of Hungary, the ferries will keep moving, to present the performers and the audience with a magnificent view..
The Fonogram-recipient and Kossuth Prize-winner formation of János Csík has been playing folk music since 1988. The Kecskemét-based group is a determining character of the folk music scene. They received innumerable recognitions in the past 25 years and released 10 albums. Their music has grown out the dance house scene: they are touring the country and the festivals. On their album Daloskönyv, they have reinterpreted several light music hits by the addition of folk music motifs. They picked - among others - some of András Lovasi's compositions, and are quite famous for their cover of Quimby's Most múlik pontosan.
